Method
How the numbers get here
Every figure on this site is parsed from the publishing authority’s own artifact — a county feed, a clerk’s PDF, a scanned statement of votes cast — and carries its source with it. When we cannot prove a number, we do not show it.
The rules
- Independent oracle. Every figure is cross-checked candidate by candidate against a reference we never ingest.
- Parsers fail closed. A county that cannot prove its own arithmetic does not appear, rather than appearing wrong.
- Stale-artifact guard. Nothing undatable gets served. In August 2026 this kept 267,927 four-year-old votes off a live board.
- Attributed human entry. Where only scans exist, humans enter numbers through an append-only journal that retires itself the moment a real feed appears.
- Coverage is a process. Counties come onto the board as they are verified, and the board says which ones — a moving number you can audit beats a static number you cannot.
- Registries are read whole. When a state exposes a numbered registry — Indiana keys every campaign committee to a file number — we walk the entire space rather than sampling it, and keep every raw page, so a parser fix is a re-parse of what we already hold, never a re-crawl. A gap in a whole-space read is a fact; a gap in a sample is a guess.
State by state
No two states publish alike, so each state page opens with its deltas — the rules that make it different from the last one, what each breaks, and how the engine resolves it. The state index is where coverage lives.
